Using PAM to stay on top of all things school (or college, or uni, you choose)

TL;DR: PAM stays on top of your school’s calendar and loads school closures and term dates. It can also help parse and summarise school newsletters, and help you organise events.

It’s a Tuesday afternoon, and you see a social media post from a friend about their school holiday planned thing (oh, they are so organised!). Oh wait, what, the school holidays start next week? Was it in a newsletter somewhere? What about that teacher-only or training day that, somehow, is conveniently on a Friday before a long weekend but completely slipped your mind, and now you have to scramble to find childcare or change your work arrangements?

We’ve all been there, and with so much school comms and other activities sending updates your way, it's easy to miss some of the important dates. And it only gets “better” when you have different kids in different schools, you think that they would line up when they would be closed, but they DON’T DO THEY HONESTLY.

Subscribe to your school calendar 

In PAM you can pick schools to subscribe to, and we’ll show any closure dates, and also load up the dates of when school is back and school is out. You'll get a task 3 weeks out to remind you, so you can plan ahead.

At the time of writing (Aug 2026), we have 1000 schools already loaded up - you can search and add them to your PAM as you wish, and if your school is not there yet, you can request it and we’ll add it for you.

The joys and perils of school newsletters

We’re big fans of school emails at PAM. We appreciate how much effort and energy schools put into them, and we appreciate their breadth and depth of the information they provide. 

We also wish they didn’t suck to read and to extract the information you actually need to know. So when you send a school newsletter to pam@mypam.co, we read it and reply with a summary of what actually matters, plus the events and tasks you might want to add, and you pick which ones. Simple as that!

Top tip: Add a note at the top of a newsletter about which room / class your kids belong too and PAM will extract what’s relevant, and if you have your child’s profile in PAM you can also ask her to tag that child.

After-school playdates, birthdays or fundraisers

During birthday party season (September anyone?), a barrage of WhatsApp/Messenger/text messages come our way, not to mention the invitations left in the bottom of the bag and are discovered the night before the party. With PAM you can organise catch-ups for the close friends or a birthday party, or even PTA fundraisers or a school picnic.

All the details will be there for those attending to save on their calendar (or their PAM!) and to RSVP to let you know if they’re coming as well.

School life has many moving parts and a lot of comms. A lot. Comms, much of it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add my school?

Go to Settings > Schools, search for your school, and subscribe. Its term start and end dates, closures, and teacher-only days load onto your PAM timeline automatically.

Which schools can I add?

Primary, intermediate and secondary schools, plus tertiary (polytech and university). We currently have around 1,000 schools loaded. Early childhood and kindergarten aren't supported as they don't publish term calendars.

What if my school isn't listed?

Search for it and send a request, and we'll get it added. (We review requests manually, so it won't be instant.)

Can I add more than one school?

Yes, subscribe to as many as you need, and every school's dates sit in the same calendar. If two schools share a date, you'll get one reminder, not duplicates.

What dates does PAM load?

Term start and end, school closures (strike days, weather days and the likes), and teacher-only / training days. For each one you'll also get a task about three weeks ahead so you can sort childcare or work around it. (Public holidays come from a separate source, so they're covered regardless.)

How does PAM handle school newsletters?

Forward one to pam@mypam.co. For a long newsletter, PAM replies with a summary plus a list of events and tasks, each with an "Add to my PAM calendar" button so you can choose what to add to your calendar. If you forward a simple email with a single clear event, PAM just adds it for you.
