Behind the scenes: I had to really hustle to get a spot talking at this event, a speaker cancellation got me my shot.

I was the first keynote for the day, in a packed theatre, and NONE of my visuals or video audio, or speaker notes worked. Internally I was a bit frazzled, I'm not someone who memorises scripts, so I was flying blind. But I pulled up my big girl pants and adlibbed, the topic was messy action - it was kinda perfect. I had hoards of woman founders telling me that the talk inspired them to take a step. Job done!

I'm a huge believer in messy action. Taking one step after the next in the direction you want to go. It doesn't need to be perfect, or huge, you just need to do something, anything towards your goal.

Momentum comes from doing one small thing after the next, not from sitting and planning to one day do something huge.

Customer validation is a must. Talk to your users, learn about their problems. Only build the smallest thing that brings value, then grow from there.
